DEPTH SEEKERS: NYE in Madrid, Roast Fish Cornbread
DEPTH SEEKERS – NYE in Madrid drops in on Madrid this New Years Eve with a plethora of new mixed media works by US-based artists Andy Howell, Kyle William Harper, and Will Woodrow. On the eve of transition into an uncertain future, DEPTH SEEKERS dives into the political, spiritual, and whimsical to challenge media-washed misconception, to spark debate over national versus global perception, and to ignite cross-cultural community and connection through shared arts experience. Andy Howell’s painted line subverts the expected with distorted characters and messaging, challenging our perception of reality while anchoring us to all it’s gorgeosities and atrocities. Kyle William Harper delivers a painterly and stenciled commentary on the military pharmaceutical industrial complex’s incessant bombing of childhood awe and innocence, infusing his addiction to the open road and desire to make meaningful changes for a better world. Will Woodrow caricatures cultural and pop iconography in his hyper-detailed contemporary sculptures that taunt and entertain in three dimensions, ultimately transporting the viewer between worlds.
DEPTH SEEKERS – NYE in Madrid opens 11am on Dec 31, with a launch reception and party starting at 7pm on New Years Eve, and runs through January 11, 2025
Open to collectors on the evening of Dec 30 from 18:00-21:00.

“His retrospective exhibited in the Museo Centro Cultural In Buenos Aires, legendary skate and street artist Andy Howell has been featured in numerous films and art publications including the art movie Sk8face and on the cover of Juxtapoz Art & Culture magazine.”
Andy Howell is a legendary professional skateboarder, museum artist, and award-winning lifestyle and technology entrepreneur, with a rich history of building successful online and offline brands and experiences in skateboarding, art, fashion, beauty, technology, and youth popular culture. He has won innovation awards and accolades in multiple industries, been named by idN Magazine as one of the world’s “Most Wanted” 100 Creatives, and been a featured speaker at MIT’s Media Lab.
Howell’s fine art is featured in gallery and museum exhibitions and in art and culture publications worldwide. He grew up on skateboarding, punk and hip hop in early 80’s counterculture, and began infusing his musical influences into his art with the creation of skate ‘zines and punk flyers by 1984. During art school he discovered graffiti and began going out at night to paint with his friends. Always obsessed with the warped and distorted characters of Garbage Pail Kids and Heavy Metal Magazine, he began to infuse the style he had been developing on the streets into his own professional skateboard graphics in 1988, and eventually those of his companies New Deal Skateboards in 1990, 411 Video Magazine, Zero Sophisto and Underworld Element (which later became simply know as Element) in 1992. Walking a thin line between skate and street art in the early 90’s, Howell combined his board art and motion graphics together with his own original hip hop songs to create skate video parts which expressed his multi-faceted approach to creativity. As early as 1991, London’s The FACE Magazine described Howell’s work as “Disney on Drugs,” and in 2008 his work was featured on the cover of Juxtapoz Magazine, in an interview conducted by Shepard Fairey, Lil Jon, and Evan Pricco. Howell’s pokes a political stick at man’s obsessions and excesses, confining his subjects to the interrogation room of his imagination, and barely giving them breathing room on the canvas. He paints “transcendental moments,” moments of clarity and unity which he describes as “glimpses of greatness, in which the layperson transcends daily mediocrity, whether it be through discovery, triumph, or escape.” He works in sizes ranging from 4x 6” inches to 24×10 feet, and paints on anything, including found doors and tabletops, electrical boxes on the street, skateboard decks, canvas and paper. Howell prefers mixed media, “anything fast, glue, gel mediums, tape, acrylic, aerosol enamels, pen and ink, anything loose and fast.”
His commercial art and design have been used in the gaming, sports, entertainment, and automotive industries to drive engagement for the world’s leading brands. Howell creates collaborations with many of the world’s most iconic art, fashion and technology brands, including capsule collections and exclusive experiences with Levis, Stance, Skullcandy, and Supreme. His video and motion graphics work has been used for classroom study by California School of Cinema and Television, and he has been recognized as a leading global expert on mass customization.
As an entrepreneur, Andy Howell became co-founder of New Deal Skateboards in 1990. His street-focused aesthetic for New Deal Skateboards helped usher in the industry-wide trend of graffiti-inspired cartoon deck graphics, and he developed the first baggy jeans for skateboarding, Big Deals, which transcended skateboarding as one of the first global streetwear trends of the 90’s.
Howell went on to become a successful founder of other groundbreaking companies including MATCHCo (acquired by Shiseido Americas Corp), Element Skateboards (acquired by Billabong), 411 Video Magazine (acquired by Wasserman Media), Imagewerks (acq by McCann Erickson/Interpublic Group), and Artsprojekt (acquired by Zazzle, Inc). His entrepreneurial work has helped pioneer cultural movements and business models across action sports, art, fashion, media, beauty, and internet technology over the past three decades.
As an advisor, Howell inspires innovation through his holistic corporate experience as a creative, entrepreneur, athlete, designer, artist, director, marketer, promoter, brand incubator, executive and company founder. He works with portfolio companies to focus on building an authentic and intuitive connection with their customers and fans through creative collaboration.
As a curator and collector, Andy Howell draws from his roots in the emergence of street art, hip hop, and post-punk, to identify and nurture the careers of fellow artists producing fine art with intelligent commentary and insights on our ever-changing world and youth culture. The New Deal 1990 Exhibition at Subliminal Projects in Los Angeles, which he co-curated with Shepard Fairey in 2019, featured over 40 established and emerging international artists across painting, illustration, animation, sculpture and digital media.
Howell’s most recent endeavors include international art exhibitions, fashion collaborations with brands including Supreme, and his own new brand, GHOST SHIP Supply Co. His Skate & Destroy exhibition in 2024 at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art’s Thank You Gallery, as well as Skate or Die exhibition at Atlas Gallery in Vienna Austria, referenced 80’s DIY skate ‘zine and punk flyer themes, including his first published work of art on the cover of Steve Caballero’s SPEEED Zine in 1984, along with newer original art using 80’s techniques. He has recently produced and curated local art shows and punk rock skate jams on the Outer Banks, as well as international art exhibitions in Vienna, Austria, presented by Ghost Ship Supply, his new Skate, Surf, Fish, and Art brand that embodies the mystical allure and uniquely multidisciplinary lifestyle found on the Outer Banks.

“A worldly exhibited artist popular with Hollywood celebrity collectors and corporate clientele including Adidas and Netflix, Los Angeles-based Kyle William Harper obliterates pop culture cliches with his mixed media social-political commentary.”
With both parents working for the Airline Industry, Californian Native Kyle William Harper grew up skateboarding and traveling the world. His mother, a European immigrant was an avid Art Enthusiast and Collector so Kyle grew up going to a wide variety of Art Museums and Galleries worldwide. He began drawing at around 6 years old and never stopped. Being inspired by Life and all that he saw, Kyle was a self taught artist and would soon become a Renaissance Entrepreneur, starting his own skateboard clothing company when he was 19 without any previous business experience. Having an addiction to the open road, Kyle and some friends hopped on 93-95 tour with the Grateful Dead and began promoting more of his art. He found constant inspiration in Great Leaders and Speakers like Jiddu Krishnamurti, GI Guirgieff, PD Ouspensky, Bob Marley, Jello Biafra, Hunter S Thompson, Charles Bukowski, Manly P Hall, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Huey Newton, John Lennon and the Love Movement of the Grateful Dead which would help guide his art throughout his life in hopes to help make a meaningful change for the better in the world. He has done art for Adidas, Vans, Netflix and began producing/curating events & festivals worldwide such as the Roast Fish Cornbread Summer Jam with 22 artists and 5 live bands in Los Angeles CA, the Ancient Civilizations Art/Music Festival in San Antonio TX, Ripple in New Orleans, The Meeting of the Minds in Ollantaytambo Peru, Conocimiento Sagrado in Madrid Spain, Walkabout in Vienna and the Mona Lisa Show in Berlin Germany with over 70 different international artists participating.
