My War Against Love Is Over. Untitled Gallery

The constant clash between Eros and Thanatos shapes the course of all human relationships. Similarly, the boundary separating them is a thin membrane whose consequences can bring an end to emotional bonds. During the subsequent mourning period, new encounters may be influenced by previous emotional imbalances, leading to the rejection of any fresh emotional connection. Finding peace, therefore, becomes the ultimate desire of anyone affected by loss, yearning to return to the starting point where giving and receiving love felt effortless.

Ana Sting delves into these issues in her project My War Against Love is Over. After experiencing a breakup, the artist entered a reflective and solitary period, questioning her relational struggles and her denial of love. In this context, the solitude that arises from letting go of any ties and engaging in introspection is seen as beneficial. Gradually, she attempts to reconcile with both others and herself, realizing that what has fueled the war between her and love is, ultimately, the fear of losing it. To understand and end this internal battle, Sting brings her emotional battlefield into the real world through this multidisciplinary exhibition.

In 2022, she presented her first solo exhibition in Barcelona, “1:11 – Inner Personalities” featuring photographic self-portraits and performance art. In 2023, she undertook an artist residency in Jaipur, India, funded by the Marcelo Burlon Foundation, and participated in Jaipur Art Week. She also exhibited at the UVNT art fair in Madrid, where she won the acquisition prize, and presented her video art Kueeng on the Nowness platform. In 2024, she focused on developing her work and relocated her studio to Barcelona.

Under this theme, the artist will hold her first exhibition in Madrid during the week of January 27 to February 2, in collaboration with Untitled Gallery at Galería Nueva, located at C/ Alejandro Sánchez 94, Carabanchel. Visitors will immerse themselves in a multidisciplinary atmosphere created through a large-scale installation, textiles, a sculptural piece, and a performance by the artist herself, which will mark both the beginning and end of the show. The opening event will take place on Monday, January 27, at 7 p.m. Attendance requires registration via the following link: https://untitled-gallery.com/blogs/upcoming-events/my-war-against-love-is-over-ana-sting
